Google, Samsung, Warby Parker, and Gentle Monster to Launch "Intelligent Eyewear" on Android XR in December 2026

Key summary

A major collaboration between Google, Samsung, Warby Parker, and Gentle Monster on the "Intelligent Eyewear" project, powered by Android XR, will soon be available for pre-order and officially released in December 2026. These glasses utilize Google's Android XR platform with a focus on audio, designed for AR and spatial processing. Key features include integration with Google Gemini AI for voice commands, information retrieval, and real-time translation. The design is a collaboration with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster to create premium, wearable fashion glasses. The hardware includes a small camera and a surround sound system.

Gentle Monster has released a short film directed by Jonathan Glazer, starring Joaquin Phoenix, in which Phoenix is shown using the command "Translate for me" on the glasses. The full film will be released in mid-November 2026. According to Warby Parker's Q3 earnings report, as stated by Co-CEO Dave Gilboa, pre-orders will begin on November 12, 2026, and customers can reserve appointments to try them on at 65 flagship stores across the United States, with plans to expand to 360 stores.

A challenge lies in the issue of privacy, as consumers are concerned about the camera potentially violating privacy, leading some public places to implement bans on glasses with cameras. Google needs to build trust to ensure the technology is accepted.
