Chelsea Confirms Reece James Undergoes Minor Knee Surgery with No Immediate Return Date

Key summary

Chelsea Football Club, a prominent Premier League side, has issued an official statement confirming that right-back and team captain Reece James will undergo minor surgery to address a knee injury sustained during training. The incident occurred prior to Chelsea's 5-1 victory over Bournemouth last weekend. At 26 years old, James is currently undergoing rehabilitation with the club's medical staff. The club has not provided a specific timeline for his return to competitive matches. This latest setback follows a history of multiple injuries in recent seasons that previously kept him out of several international fixtures for England, including those around the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. However, James' injury record improved significantly last season, allowing him to play a crucial role for England at the 2026 World Cup qualifiers or related events where the team reached the semi-finals and secured third place.
